Let me introduce you to Bob.
Bob works in your accounting department. He’s not a developer. He’s never attended a sprint review or filed a change request. But six months ago, Bob discovered that an AI tool could automate the reconciliation reports that used to eat up his entire Tuesday. Shadow AI is shadow infrastructure
For years, security leaders managed shadow IT as an inconvenient but bounded problem. Unauthorized SaaS apps, personal Dropbox accounts, and the occasional rogue cloud instance. The exposure was real, but the blast radius was manageable.
